1966 GTO WS 389 Tri-Power 4-speed

This beautiful GTO left the KC assembly plant as a 360 hp WS Tri-Power 389, 4-speed and Power Steering.
Sometime in the past (two owners ago), the owner decided to build a new engine, using a 1970 400 block. New 030 over pistons were installed and the original crankshaft, heads, etc were used for the 400 build. The car sat for a period of time as the restoration came to a halt, then sold to the person who restored the car. That owner tore the engine down again, inspected, and re-assembled. That owner continued the restoration, then put around 130 miles on the car. Then I purchased the car. When I purchased the car, I also got the original 1966 WS 360 hp 389 block. I recently to that block to a local machine shop, getting cleaned and inspected for condition. The current 400 is running a cast 4v with an Edelbroch carb. With the car, I also purchased the original 1966 Tri-Power set up, including the 1966 Tri-Power intake, rebuilt carbs, new aircleaners, linkage, etc.
The GTO is running the original 4-speed and runs great. The rear end is a Posi with 3:55 gears.
The body is in great condition and the paint is three years old. Very nice! The interior is new. New ball joints, tie-rod ends, brakes, exhaust, wheels, tires, wood grain dash, new in-dash tach, body bushings, New engine wiring harness.
The car starts, runs, drives and loroks great.
The car is available by itself for $29,500. The buyer can also purchase the 1966 WS 360 hp block for $1000 and the car buyer can purchase the complete 1966 rebuilt Tri-Power intake, carb, air cleaners, linkage for $2500. I don't want to sell the block or Tri-Power seperatly until the car sells. I can e-mail pics of the block and Tri-Power, including codes.
Many receipts go with the car.
100 plus photos plus videos will be available soon.
You are welcome to make an offer on an all inclusive package deal.
This car is a really nice driver, and appropriate local show car. It's not a trailer queen national show car.
Please contact me for more details.

Question:
If your interested in a complete package deal to include everything ( 389 and 3 duces ) 25K. I am looking to buy from now until the end of the year. If your interested I would like more pictures of the interior, engine bay, dog tags, trunk, undercarriage, and PHS documents. Do you have a clear AR title in your name. Thanks. PS - Please send pictures to stoverracing@yahoo.com. Would a Bank Certified Check be ok for payment?
Answer:
Good Morning, and thanks for your e-mails. Yesterday, I photographed the date & production codes on the WS block and the Tri-power set up. I can send you these photos now. I was thinking about installing the Tri-power before I photograph the car. But, today is a BEAUTIFUL day in the ozarks, and I can photograph the the car body, interior, engine compartment, trunk and under-chassis. I can also make a simple video of the engine starting and running. I will post all of these photos and video on my web page at www.clarksvideogroup.com I will send you an e-mail when I get this done. It may take a day or two. As far as the check goes, I've been pretty causious about certified checks. We've all heard the stories. But, in two cases, I've taken certified checks and it worked out ok. In these two cases, prior to the sale, the buyer e-mailed all the check info to me, I took the info to my banker, and my banker made some calls and confirmed the authinticity of the check. If you'er willing to do the same, we can probobly make that work ok. I have applied for my Arkansas title a couple of weeks ago. I expect to recieve it probobly this week or next week. It usually takes about 3-5 weeks. If you wish, you could send a deposit to hold the car until the title shows up. Of course I have a photo copy of the previous KS title and my copy of a Bill of Sale (showing I own the car). Today I am subitting my application for PHS documents. I am paying extra for fast fax return (plus the normal postal mail documents). I will follow up with you when I receive the documents. Please feel free to call with any questions. 479-619-9931 -Tim On [2009-11-02 07:54:43] harold wrote: > If your interested in a complete package deal to include everything ( 389 and 3 duces ) 25K. Beautiful looking GTO, I am in the market for one; however, I cant quite afford the 29,000 for it. I was curious about one thing tho...what size tires are you running in the back of your car? Answer:
The tires are new BF Goodrich Radial T/A. Question:
Tim, Yes I am in Maryland, just outside of Baltimore and Frederick and 50 miles from Washington. I am a big car far, but Pontiac has always been the biggest maker of any car. My 1st toy was a 64 triple black Catalina convertible with a 389 2bbl. Bought it from a nurse back in 1986. The widetrack ran flawlessly but I had to sell it in 1993 because my daughter was being born and needed a spot in the carport and the frame was rusting in 5 spots. Later, I purchased several other cars, kept them for 5 years or so and sold them. But I find that I must have my love...a vintage 1966 GTO. But your asking price is a bit too far from what I have to offer. Question:
trade 1669730 you deliver
Answer:
Thanks for your e-mail. Very nice '56 Chevy. Can you give me more details on your car? To start with, does it have power steering (I've gotten old and lazy)? I would also like detailed information on the engine, transmission, rear end, front suspension, rear suspension, front brakes, rear brakes, power accessories, body restoration, etc. For my '66 GTO, I have approx. 220 photos, 3 engine videos and LOTs of details on my webpage at www.clarksvideogroup.com I encourage you to visit this webpage for complete info on my car. We might be able to work out an even trade. I've done several even trades before, and every time both parties where happy with the exchange. But in every case, both parties traveled half the distance. When both parties invest in their time and expense in traveling, it signifies the sincerity of each person’s intentions. So, I'm not sure about doing all the traveling. You see, not only will I be paying for all the fuel, plus two days time driving (round trip); I will also risk all the loss of time and money if you were to change your mind. My risk is at least two days trailering a car, all the fuel expense, a motel charge, two days of restaurant meals. Your risk is a one hour inspection, and then you could just say "no, I changed my mind" and walk back into your house. This doesn't seem quite fair to me. I'm sure you can understand my concern. If you're willing to discuss other options such as both of us traveling and meeting half way, or any other ideas, please contact me again. I like your car. Question:
Hi Tim Its a 1956 Chevrolet Bel-Air Sports Coupe excellent condition. Restored in 2002 all new exterior paint and chrome (bumpers, grill, tail lights, . Interior professionally done with white leather and maroon tweed with Chevy bow tie emblems in seats, all new rugs and a new headliner installed 2009. 350 C.I. engine with four speed manual transmission and new Hurst Shifter.I have a turbo 350, I can throw in on the deal, if you would want to have a auto.It has a 12bolt rear end, and i'm not sure of the ratio, but its low. It has 2in" drop spindels in the front, front and rear drum brakes. It is manual steering , but I have a 605 power steering box , that came with it. I understand your concern about the delivery. All I can tell you is, if I drove you all the way to louisville for a trade, I would trade, unless you had grossly misrepresented the car. I'm not talking about a little something you missed to tell me, I'm talking about the motor knocking, trans is out, floors are gone. Something big. Believe it or not. Everytime I have traded on here, and there have been alot, they have always come to me. Not because everybody is just so nice, and they love to travel,. But because I am disabled. I cant travel. I always give everybody the same guaratee, I am offering you. I wont backup on the deal, if we make 1. I have always had honest people, and have never had a problem. I believe deep down everybody has alot of good in them. I understand completely if you dont want to travel, but all I have is my word. And I could possibly kick in on the trip. I aint got alot, but I could help out. Let me know Thanks Dennis On [2009-11-06 16:30:10] ozarkmantimc wrote: > Thanks for your e-mail. > > Very nice '56 Chevy. Thanks for the quick reply Dennis, I'm interested in your trade. I've never had a tri-5 car, but have wanted one. There is a National chevy parts supplier in a near by town, called H&H classics. They set up their semi truck at all the large national shows. I'm going to check with them to see how much $$ it would take to convert the car to power steering. Is there any known problems with your car? Do you happen to know what 4-speed is in the car? Have you gone to my website at www.clarksvideogroup.com ? Also, could I have your phone number? Mine is 479-619-9931 If you'd be willing to split the travel expenses, I'm interested. So, I'm not sure about doing all the traveling. My risk is at least two days trailering a car, all the fuel expense, a motel charge, two days of restaurant meals. Your risk is a one hour inspection, and then you could just say "no, I changed my mind" and walk back into your house. This doesn't seem quite fair to me. Question:
Sounds like a winner to me. I had a 66 gto convertible in the mid 70's. I always liked it. The car runs and drives great. It has a smooth running 350 in it. I am 58 and disabled, and I kinda like smooth running , instead of all cammed up. I'm like you. I only drive these old cars on the pretty days, and days when my back alows it. It has a muncie 4sp in it to. It shifts fine. My biggest complaint is the gear. Its a low geared rearend. I went to the website. I will be going back later. Thats alot of info :-) More than anybody needs to know :-). When I traded for this car, the guy told me the floors were perfect. When it got here, I found a couple of small places of rust. I went ahead and went thru with the trade, because it wasnt anything that bad, but I will not tell somebody its perfect. The trunk area was fine and all the frame and supports looked good. As far as expences, I would need to know how much half would be. I am on a fixed income, and money is not at a premium around here. I cant tell you half , until I know what half would be. My phone # is 502-933-9362 Thanks Dennis On [2009-11-06 17:51:53] ozarkmantimc wrote: > Thanks for the quick reply Dennis, > > I'm interested in your trade. Answer:
I've done some estimating on travel expenses. It looks like the trip will run about $750. I have a '98 Chevy 1 ton crew cab dually that I use for my car hauler. It's a real pig on gas... 454 engine. So, half would be $375. My work is rather busy right now. It would probobly be around two weeks from now before I could be gone for two days in a row. Your thoughts? Question:
I think I can kick in $375. Thats more than fair. 1 thing I do have is time( I hope :-). You make it easy on yourself. I am home 24/7 usually. I do have occasional doctor's appointments, but none this month. Just let me know when you want to do it. I have a couple of question's. Does your car have any overheating problems. I know sometimes , when motors are bored out, they like to run hot. Is the 389 motor you have , the original block for the car , or is it just period correct. Thanks Dennis On [2009-11-07 08:46:33] ozarkmantimc wrote: > I've done some estimating on travel expenses. It looks like the trip will run about $750. Answer:
The engine runs nice and cool... no over-heating. Original block? Depends on who you believe. A previous owner, said the WS (360hp)389 was the original block and he removed it from the car himself. PHS says my car left the factory with a WT (335hp)block. Pontiac didn't put matching engine / body VINs on blocks in 1966, so all I can go on is PHS and the previous owner. See my webpage for the best details I can give. In a short answer, I guess I'm not sure either way. The Tri-Power and the WS block are 1966. Let's stay in touch.
